August15 Tips Your Boss Wished You Knew About Robot Vacuum Mop Pet Hair
The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
A robot vacuum/mop combo is the ideal solution for pets that shed fur. It can mop and vacuum, and even clean and dry its own dual mop pads.
It also has 8,000Pa suction which is the most of any robot we've tested. It can also save maps of your home and create cleaning schedules through its app.
1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the most recent in the Ecovacs range of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This wet/dry model is equipped with the latest AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system from Ecovacs, which provides enhanced mapping and obstruction-free operation. It uses dual-laser LiDAR which is similar to what is used in self-driving cars -- and can scan up to 32 feet by 270 degrees. This means more precise mapping as well as faster response time and greater cleaning accuracy.
It also comes with a rotating mopping mat constructed of chenille. This makes it much easier to scrub hard areas than traditional mops. In my tests, the X2 Omni washed its pad in less than a second and got to work. I noticed that it was more precise than other models which seemed to follow the grid of rooms. It was able to navigate my rooms' corners and edges, as well as make an "Zambani pattern" that ran up and down the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station regularly to empty the dust bin and wash the mop with hot water, before starting another cleaning task.
The X2 Omni is as simple to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. Place the dock in its place, plug it in and connect it to your home WiFi network. It only takes a few minutes. Then, you're able to launch the app and begin with your first cleaning task. I was able to modify my floor plan in about 15 minutes. This included creating limited areas for sweeping and mopping, reworking the placement of furniture on the wall, and more. The X2 Omni performed impressively during my tests, with excellent scores for the removal of pet hair and debris cleaning and close to perfect results in cleaning crevices and edges.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
The ECOVACS T10 Omni is an extremely powerful vacuum and mopping machine. It is the most advanced of the brand's T-line and features the latest OZMO Turbo 2.0 mopping system that utilizes dual-spinning brushes to provide more effective cleaning than traditional oscillating scrubbers. It also has YIKO integrated, a first-of-its kind natural language processing tech that allows it to respond to a range of voice commands. The ECOVACS App allows you to design your home, create cleaning schedules, and alter settings.
The biggest issue with the T10 Omni is that it cannot switch between mopping and vacuuming in a single operation. The two modes require you attach and remove the mop heads as you need to which is great for most homes, but not a good fit for people with busy lifestyles.
The Deebot T10 Omni is a fantastic robot vacuum that has impressive results in our pet hair tests. It was able to vacuum up more than 96% of the debris we tossed at it on our hardwood floors which is an impressive performance. It did an excellent job on tiles and carpets cleaning up 99% of dirt.
This robot mop and vacuum comes with a large docking station which offers cool water cleaning for the mop pads, auto-emptying into a 3L disposable bag that is easy to replace, and hot air drying for quick and easy maintenance. It also comes with a large tank of water that allows it to be washed and dried more frequently between mopping sessions.
Like many other mopping robots such as the Deebot T10, this one has a wash tray in its base that cleans and dries its mop pads as it utilizes them. However, it doesn't have an open tray, which means dirty water, dust and other grime accumulates in the bottom of the tray over time.
3. RoboVac X8 hybrid
While Anker's Eufy is well known in the world of robot vacuums This model is the first foray into the world of mopping. It has enhanced intelligence and support for multiple maps, LIDAR scanning and twin-turbine technology that automatically adjusts to the floor you're cleaning. It's a tempting mid-range robot vacuum cleaner, even if it doesn't meet its promise to be a one-stop shop for floor cleaning.
The X8 Hybrid appears to be an ordinary robotic cleaner from the top. It has a circular shape with sweeper wheels and an elevated sensor. Flip it over, however you'll see an electric floor brush and one side sweeper brush which pushes dirt from the edges of the machine into the main path of the robot's 'mouth'. It's a little smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under couches and chairs.
Its mapping system is reasonably sophisticated and allows you to set no-mop zones as well as specific cleaning zones. However it is prone to bump into things (including its charging dock) and isn't always great at climbing over carpets. It was capable of picking up pet hair on bare floors however, and during our tests, it picked up 89.5% of kitty litter, which is higher than all but the most powerful robots we've examined.
While it's controllable via the app, the X8 Hybrid also comes with a series of physical buttons on its base, which let you select a cleaning mode, and turn the robot off and on. Additionally, you can use these to set no-go zones and view real-time maps. It's also a little chatty and will tell what it's going to do next (start cleaning) or notify you if something isn't working.
4. ILIFE A4s
This model is high-tech and sucks up pet hair, kibble, and other messes with remarkable efficiency and maneuvers flawlessly around furniture legs. It comes with a feature set that is impressive, including two cleaning modes, an automatic docking station and real-time obstacle avoidance technology. The Wi-Fi enabled device is controlled best robot vacuum for hair through the Neato App where cleaning schedules are set and maintenance requirements are tracked. The X2 Omni is an excellent choice for large homes with a mix of hard carpet and flooring, however it requires some advanced planning to avoid getting stuck by electrical cords, toys, or other obstacles that might be unexpected.
This robot did well in our tests of hardwood floors and food particles. It picked up everything from a single rice grain to a variety of dog food pieces with just one pass. It had some trouble with rugs, but generally speaking, this vacuum cleaner is great for large rooms that contain floors of different types and a mix of pets.
The A4s Pro is expensive, but it's a great option for those who wish to be able to leave the house hands-free so they can do other things or take care chores. The A4s Pro also offers a handy auto-cleaning mode that automatically boosts suction power to tackle tough spills and dirt and it includes an electric ElectroWall that allows you to set boundaries that the robot isn't allowed to access.
This budget-friendly robot from a popular brand is the cheapest we've tested and provides exceptional value for money. Its basic navigation system is based on a basic random pathing algorithm and it's not equipped to map rooms. This renders it less efficient as other models on this list. However it's still able get under furniture and into corners, and its mopping mode worked very well during our tests and was able to pick up pet hair and other debris easily.
5. Shark iQ
Shark's iQ may not be as robust as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It is more effective of cleaning carpets with low piles as well as floors that are not covered. It also uses smart-pathing navigational software for greater maneuverability. It can be sent to a specific area, and includes a variety of advanced automation options, including no-go zones and schedules. It allows you to stop and restart cleaning sessions which is ideal for homes that have pets.
The self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent tangles with pet hair and other debris and its self-emptying bagless dock station can hold up to 30 days worth of dirt before it needs to be empty. It comes with of angled side brushes that can reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that collects dust, allergens and dander.
The robot vacuum is built well and feels solid. It has a smartphone application that allows you to change the vacuum settings and schedule cleaning sessions ahead of time. The app also lets you see the iQ's remaining battery life and send push notifications about any issues it encounters during its cleaning process. You can also control it using your voice via an Amazon Alexa device or Google Assistant device. If you don't own either of these devices you can mark out areas with physical boundary markers strips.
The iQ is good for cleaning floors that aren't clean and does well on shaggy and low-pile carpets. However it doesn't provide the same level of autonomy as our top picks. It's also expensive and its recurring cost can be quite costly.
